 Tally Introduction –

        Tally is an accounting, inventory & taxation Software Package.It is developed by Mr. Bharat Goinka in 1986.  And give the name of it Peutronics. After that it is called tally .

INTRODUCTION OF TALLY

Tally is an accounting application that is used perform different types of accounting tasks such, Stock management, Ledger, and Voucher entries, Create payroll system, Generate different types of  reports Like (Balance Sheet, Profit and Loss a/c, Trial Balance, etc.)

TALLY - FUNCTIONS

Company Creation: Company just like a container for all types Inventory items, Ledgers, Vouchers and Reports and in tally before performing any task, we have to create a company.

Here tally provides features to create, delete and update an already existing company.

Inventory: Tally provides facility to create and insert several types of stock details by using inventory features.

Ledger: We can create different types of ledgers by using of already existing groups.

Voucher: In tally, we can insert Journal, Payment, Receipt, Contra and other types of vouchers with the help of already existing voucher groups.

Payroll system: Tally also provides employee details and their salary details management by payroll system.

Reports:  Tally automatically generate various types of accounting reports such (Profit & Loss Account, Balance sheet, Tax reports, inventory reports and so on)

OTHER ERP ACCOUNTING SOFTWARE

1. SAP (System, Applications, and Products): This application developed by a German company and it also used to perform different types of accounting tasks. 

2. Busy: This is another popular accounting application and used as an alternative for Tally in various areas.

On loading of tally we see the following figure on screen.

After it we see the Start-up dialog box as following.

We choose “work in educational mode” option (for using educational purpose) after that we select silver edition mode(single user) option.

 

         after it the main tally window will be open as follow- 

Tally screen have mainly two parts—

1)    COMPANIES LIST SECTION- in this section we see how many companies are open, current date, current financial year period and last voucher entry in company.

2)    MENU SECTION- in this section we see the menus for working. At a time only one menu is appear.

We also see some other parts on tally screen such as-

a)     SHORTCUT NOTIFICATION BAR- In figure which part is under rectangle is known as shortcut notification bar or simply we say that shortcut bar. In this we see the shortcut buttons for the open menu. In this bar under line means (alt + that button) and double-under line means (ctrl+ that button).

b)    PATH LOCATOR- which part is red circled in figure is known as path locator. In this we see the path of open menu. We also see the current date and time in this bar at right side.

c)     After these we see product version of tally, license period, configuration and calculator on bottom of the tally screen.

d)    Some other shortcuts, which are specified in tally, we see at top of the screen.

This option is used to change in registration form of any pre created company, delete any company.

To change:- If you want any changes in company registration form Company Info box as follow:-
